I just adore this restaurant! The entrees come with loads of veggies! They also usually include a side of mashed potatoes which are really good. The lemon chicken was so light, but still a big piece of chicken. Its very well done. The chicken marsala had a lot of mushrooms on top, but with the lemon wedge they add and the sauce, it tasted great. The ricotta bread is amazing! Definitely gonna re-order that after i hit the gym. I've had two pasta dishes here, one with chicken in a cream sauce and the other, vodka sauce. Both were excellent. They also include bread with your order which is great for the chicken in sauce entrees. They don't however include napkins so make sure you have your own. The packaging is great, very neat, nothing spilling, those big round plastic containers, so you don't have to move the food to a plate for fear of cutting through the aluminum bottom of the container. Favorite Italian place! Should have a higher rating.

Pasta incredibly overcooked. Pomodoro sauce is hardly "pomodoro" - more of a salty oily mess.

This place is hit and miss. Stay away from anything with their tomato sauce. It is nothing more than chopped tomatoes heated up -- no spices and no herbs. Also stay away from grilled items as they tend to burn them. Other pastas and pizzas are good though.

Delivery guy never showed. Says he gave the order to someone in another building that pretended to be me. I don't know if they are just lying or what but an hour later and the kitchen is closed

II Mattone is very authentic, flavorful, and original. Their thin crust Margherita Pizza Pie is one of the best I have tasted so far. The staff is very courteous and friendly.

I recently started working in the Tribeca area and a colleague of mine highly recommened Il Matone for great pasta dishes and pizza. Since the recommendation I have tried the goat cheese and chicken pizza which was fantastic as well as the Rigatoni pasta lunch. The rigatoni has been my favorite dish so far. The smoked mozzarella really adds a nice touch to the dish. Needless to say this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I usually place an order for pick up and as soon as I step inside I feel right at home.

I never ordered from here before, but based on the high rating I thought I would give it a try. Big mistake. I ordered the Fried Calamari and the Chicken Parm. I figured these would be safe, standard fare from an "Italian" restaurant. Chicken Parm was not fresh... more like a frozen McChicken patty with cheese on top. The Calamari was better, but it arrived soggy and almost cold. I wouldn't order from here again.

I used to order pizza from here ALL the time. Suddenly tonight I go to order my usual cheese pizza with sausage topping which is an extra $4 (already ridiculous if you ask me). They've now increased the extra topping to $7!!!! Do they have a michelin star rated restaurant now? Is there a new famous chef in the kitchen? Nope. Just ridiculous inflations. Extremely disapointed.

I was food poisoned about 6 months ago from one of their dishes. I called to ask if anyone else has called in, to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else. The person who I spoke with handled it very poorly. She said she was the hostess and then I asked to speak with the manager, now her title became the manager. I should of spoken with the owner. Long story short, she said , "what do you want me to do, reimburse you, with an attitude?" I said, no I just want to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. I will not order from this restaurant again. Service is just as important as food. The food isn't realy anything to write home about anyway, it's just convenient for the location.

Over an hour for delivery (promised 30-45) then said they "tried" delivering earlier. Massively large portions but misrepresented. There was no prosciutto in my Penne Vodka despite being billed as such. Grilled calamari OK but swimming in far too much marinara.

The food is very expensive (I spent $38 for two Penne Ala Vodka) and a tiramisu), but it tastes pretty good. The delivery was also competent. The restaurant is pretty dependable. I don't know if I would regularly go here if I didn't have to order in at the office all the time, given the existence of several better Italian restaurants not too far away, but I certainly don't have anything bad to say about my experience with Il Mattone. It forms a big part of my co-workers' diets, too.

Terrible!!! They shouldn't have an Italian Restaurant when they have no clue how to cook pasta or anything else. The quality of the food is really low. Completely tasteless.

Delivery was dead slow (1.5 hour wait!), the food was cold and the ingredients did not taste fresh. very disappointing experience all around - there are much better italian places out there.

Hour and a half to get the cold food. The restaurant never picks up its phone so I had to call 10 times before somebody answered to help me find my food.

They gave me a veal milanese sandwich instead of a chicken one (and the meat eater agreed that it tasted terrible, it got thrown out) and the margherita pizza was soggy, chewy, and tasted mostly of salt. I ended up heating something from my freezer since the pizza was so bad. Not to mention that the food was pretty cold since it took longer than the 30-45 minutes to arrive, more like an hour. The receipt even said veal milanese and I got charged for it instead of the chicken, and I rechecked my order, and I definitely ordered chicken.

try the veal milanese sandwich, it comes with great seasoned fries. veal can be cut a little thick, so ends up tough...but tasty and you can often get lucky on the cut.

Typically very good; high quality ingredients. Once ordered a hawaiian pizza which was just soggy and watery, however the restaurant credited my account. I appreciate this service. It is nice to know that the food is great; and if there's a mistake, their service will take care of it.

I love IL Mattone...I have been ordering from them for months and always get the best chicken parm in town... There house salad is great too!! I don't understand the negative reviews...I have never been dissappointed and I am the pickiest person I know...

The food came cold, I don't know how pizza cools down this fast. The pizza came all crushed to one side of the box. The crust was rubbery. Cheese seemed and tasted fake. Delivery person is a thief. He shows up with a regular receipt saying that if I wanted my order I have to give him my card info 1.75 for a CANNED coke? Really? Don't order here, I don't even know how you manage to have the pizza fold on itself. The person who cut the slices also has no basic knowledge of using the pizza cutter and how the slices should be even.

I oredered Pizza and a slice of cake. The Pizza was almost cool at arrival, and it wasn't a cold day. It wasn't too cool to eat, and was still pretty delicious, given the brick oven. The slice of carrot cake was small, given the price, and just commercial cake, not moist. Overall, it was good food but poor presentation.

Pizza is very good ... I suggest meatballs as a topping. They are way overpriced though on the sandwhiches 13 for a small veal hero... eh. Also the penne al a vodka pretty good but for 15 i expect at least a salad to come with it. All in all very good and defintely consistent.

This order did not go well. The order took 40 minutes over the estimated time to arrive. When the order arrived it was missing half the drinks, the pizza was cold, one of the soda cans was broken and spilling all over our floor and hallway. And we were missing an entire PIE! We will not be ordering from here again.

Awesome pizza. Great dishes (meatballs are superb.) I really like this place, it deserves five stars here on seamless web not four! When you're really hungry and in the mood for some Italian this place can't be beat for this area of the city.
